We’re building inclusive outdoor education, leadership pathways, and trail stewardship programs across Minnesota — starting with strong leaders and sustainable systems.
Our Current Phase
TrailMix Alliance officially received federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in late 2025 and is in the early stages of building the organization.
Shortly after receiving our nonprofit status, our communities were impacted by immigration enforcement actions that caused unjust and long-lasting harm to families, neighborhoods, and the broader community. Like so many others, our leadership was personally affected through our families, friends, colleagues, clients, neighbors, and community partners.
Before we were able to focus on continuing to build a new nonprofit, we focused on caring for the people around us. Much of our personal volunteer bandwidth shifted toward mutual aid and supporting our communities while continuing to build TrailMix behind the scenes, at a much slower pace.
Today, our public work remains limited as we continue laying the foundation for the organization, though we are still here.
What We’re Building
Skill‑building workshops that increase confidence, safety, and access in outdoor spaces.
Training and mentorship for women and underserved leaders in outdoor stewardship.
Community‑centered care for trails and outdoor spaces, grounded in safety and sustainability.
TrailMix welcomes community ideas!
Have an idea for an event, partner agency, leadership training or something else that we're about? TrailMix is founded on community input and welcomes ideas from any community member.
Ideas are reviewed as volunteer capacity allows and may also be revisited during TrailMix’s bi-annual mission review.

The form below is used to gather required information from individuals interested in supporting TrailMix through leadership, advisory, and behind-the-scenes builder roles during the early formation of the nonprofit.
All roles with TrailMix Alliance are volunteer-based and unpaid. Individual responses are kept confidential and reviewed only by TrailMix leadership.
